PITTSBURGH, Feb. 1, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- TMS International Corp.(NYSE: TMS), the parent company of Tube City IMS Corporation, a leading provider of outsourced industrial services to steel mills globally, today announced the appointment of Sara A. Hornby, Ph.D., as Director of Marketing for the company's Optimization Group segment of its Raw Material and Optimization Group.

Dr. Hornby will be responsible for research, strategic planning, technical business development, and sales and marketing for the company's Optimization Group.

Previously, Dr. Hornby was a principal at Global Strategic Solutions in Charlotte, NC. She also worked at Process Technology International, Inc., in Atlanta, GA; Midrex Technologies Inc. in Charlotte; Tenova Goodfellow in Mississauga, Canada; and Air Liquide in Canada and the United States and British Steel Corporation (now Tata Steel), Rotherham, UK.
"Most significantly, in a number of her prior positions, she was instrumental in developing melt technology enhancements for steel manufacturers," Mr. Aronson said.
Dr. Hornby has a Doctorate Degree in Industrial Metallurgy from Hallam University, Sheffield, England. She will be based at the company's office in Charlotte, NC.
